About Bright Steps

Recently Jennifer Field, founder of the J Field Foundation has developed, with her mother, Joanne Field, a branch of her foundation called Bright Steps: “The Tiniest of steps can mean the greatest change.” This division of the foundation donates funds to help head injured individuals to partake of some of the alternative therapies that insurance does not cover. We feel that these selected therapies that helped Jennifer so much, should be available to more people. If you are involved or associated with such issues in your life, such as if you or a family member is a head injury survivor, or if you are a caregiver or advocate for brain injury patients that may benefit from an alternative therapy for the rehabilitation of a brain injury, the J Field Foundation and Bright Steps can help.

Testimonial

On March 12, 2006 my oldest son Patrick was in a near fatal accident which left him with a severe traumatic brain injury. He has been in various rehabilitation hospitals, recovering from his injuries, since then. The traditional therapies offered in the skilled nursing facility where he currently resides are not enough to help Pat’s vision problems and muscle spasticity issues. We heard about a clinic being offered that teamed up vision and occupational therapies with an optician who specialized in brain injured patients, fitting the patient with specially crafted prism glasses to help with balance as well as vision.

Thanks to the sponsorship of the Jennifer Field Foundation, Patrick was able to take advantage of these services, which insurance does not cover and we would not have been able to afford otherwise. Pat has already benefited from the prisms with better eye focus and improvements are expected to continue as his wearing time increases.
