The Great-great granddaughter of Marshall Field, founder of the Marshall Field department store chain, Jennifer forged her own identity when she started riding horses at age 6 and became her own success story at age 12 as a nationally recognized and award winning show jumper.

Her closely watched and promising career was cut short following a near fatal car accident at age 17 that left her comatose and brain damaged. Unable to walk, talk, or use her right arm, Jennifer battled numerous physical, mental and emotional obstacles over the next decade to regain her physical independence.

Jennifer fought back to graduate Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in art history from Wheaton College in Massachusetts. An accomplished painter and poet, Jennifer Field also completed a two year acting training course in the “Meisner Technique” at the Ruskin School of acting in Santa Monica.

A Distant Memory is Jennifer's critically acclaimed, autobiographical one-woman show that enjoyed an extended run at The Ruskin Group Theatre in Los Angeles in 2005 and has since been taken on the road to colleges and rehabilitation facilities throughout the country.

Audiences are taken on her inspirational day-to-day fight for physical independence. Determined and unwilling to give up, Jennifer ignored her doctor's prognosis and with the help of her loving and dedicated Mother, Joanne Field, combed the globe in search of treatments and therapies that would help her regain her life. The slow and often despairing journey took every ounce of strength and commitment they had.

I want the show to be a message of hope to anyone faced with obstacles of any kind.Jennifer Field

Brain injury survivors identify with the struggles of Jennifer and her family and draw hope and inspiration from the autobiography of the successful brain injury rehabilitation and recovery of Jennifer Field. Jennifer has served as a conference keynote speaker before brain injury caregivers and rehabilitation specialists who are moved by the inspirational determination and dedication she has shown throughout her rehabilitation and recovery to build a meaningful life after her accident.
